Peruvanam Kuttan Marar will be leading the melam having 250 members! The percussion is one of the best and is a great experience. The heart thumping beats with a grand combination of kuzhal goes on till 04:30 PM.
Thiruvambadi Melam @ 03:00 PM
With similar glory, the Thiruvambadi Melam takes place in parallel. If you are late and didn’t get a good viewing spot for the Ilanjithara Melam, head over to Thiruvambadi for the Panjavadhyam lead by Kizhakootu Junior Marar. The Ilanjithara Melam audience after its completion can enjoy the ending bits of this melam.
After the melam, on the east side of Vadakunnathan Temple, the Kudamatam (umbrella change) program starts which is yet another important function in Trishur Pooram. This can get very crowded and if you are a bit claustrophobic then it’s recommended that you watch it from a distance or right in front of it. Getting stuck in the middle can be very tiring. The Thiruvambadi and Paramelkavu side will be competing against each other with vibrant colorful umbrellas being displayed and changed while being on top of the elephants combined with chenda melam. Once this is over, it’s best to get some rest.
